Crafting Meeting
Greetings RED Community,
As many of you have noticed, we've taken the majority of the summer "off" from RED biz meetings, focusing more on the garden, traveling and Ceremony. We've also pushed the Native Harvest Gathering up into October in order to coincide with garden harvest time. Now that the season is coming to a close, we've got some Crafting Meetings set to organize and prepare for our next few events/projects:
September 15
September 29
October 13
All at SOU Student Family Housing Community Room
1361 Quincy Street, Ashland
All at 6:30 p.m.
The meetings are intended to include crafting--seems like we have unlimited need in the community for regalia-making, giveaway-crafting, etc., and in light of the success we had last spring with our crafting-style-meetings, we've decided to keep the meetings a little less "biz" and more about socializing, working on our crafts and taking care of updates from that place.
Our next event, the Native Harvest Gathering, is set to take place at the Ashland Grange on October 23. We will talk about the organization needed to make this event come to life. Anyone who would like to step up and help in some way is WELCOMED to do so! We always need more steppin' up! We're designing the Harvest Gathering around the creation of a Harvest Feast to take place on that day, October 23, at 4 p.m.. The Gathering will be hands-on workshop projects to create the meal we'll be serving for the Feast. We're encouraging people to bring things from their own gardens or other community gardens to prepare, cook and serve for the Feast. This is sort of a work-on-site-potluck! It's about working together to create the Feast and learning from each other different ways of using freshly harvested food--whether through cooking, preserving, etc..
Thanks for any help you can give and we look forward to seeing you.
Jaimie
