Acorn Festival
You are invited to the 3rd Annual Acorn Festival. This indoor/outdoor FREE event includes:
Hands-on Workshops on acorns and their processing.
Yurok acorn cooking basket demonstration with Lena Hurd.
Traditional tools and fishing gear teachings with Tom Smith.
Oak gall medicinal use with Deb Lukus of Spiral Living.
Stickball gaming (shinny games) with Red Earth Descendants.
5 p.m. potluck includes traditional dishes as well as innovative new recipes made with acorns. Bring a side dish in you can. All are welcome. Rain or shine!

February Social
R.E.D. will host our next Social Saturday, February 6 @ 5 p.m. back in the "old Social place" (Community Room in the SOU Student Family Housing Complex). We haven't held our monthly Socials for the past season due to out-of-town commitments on those first Saturdays of the month, so we look forward to coming together in our local community once again in that traditional, simple way--for songs, feast and good words with the People.
NASU Native Cultural Sharing and Powwow
The fall welcome back powwow will take place on Saturday Nov. 21, at the Ashland Middle School gym. It will be preceded by cultural exhibits and UNTETE's corn festival.

Native American Flutist Mary Youngblood Concert
St. Clair Productions presents Native American flutist Mary Youngblood. Youngblood is the first Native American woman to have received 2 Grammy Awards for "Best Native American Music Album" -- 2002 Beneath the Raven Moon and 2006 for Dance with the Wind. The Spirit of Sacajawea was nominated for an EMMY for Musical Score in 2007.
